Mary,
Anything with some silk in it would be nice. Although listed as a dk, I really think this is more like a fingering weight to sport weight. I suggest Regia Silk as a sub or Cascade Heritage Silk.

I would like to make this pattern. However, I an having trouble finding a suitable substitute yarn. Apparently, Lana Grossa Setanova cannot be found in the US and ordering from Lana Grossa would be $40 shipping. Would you please recommend a yarn substitution? I want to make two bags, one for my daughter and one for her fiance. Their wedding in March 10th. I'm hoping to be able to make one in soft pink and the other in light grey. Again, colors that Lana Grossa same in. ARGH! Can you help?

Thanks.

Ashley,
The no-stitch is really just that. Not a stitch. Ignore the grey squares completely, they are really only placed there so that certain elements of the charts line up. No floats involved, just move on to the next real stitch. Hope that helps!

Goals for 2012:
• finish all knitting projects that I start
• publish a pattern
• apply for a booth at Rhinebeck (NYS sheep and wool festival)
• finish the shopping cart portion of our web site
• have my own yarn line manufactured
• continue to work on the proposed book
• welcome in some new Wensleydale Sheep lambs (if LAI worked)

I better stop there or I won't succeed. I'm being realistic rather than dreamy.

It's so hard to decide my favorite. Pride & Prejudice was the one that got me started. I read Emma because my English teacher recommended it and it was wonderful. Then I forgot all about Jane Austen for awhile until I saw the BBC Pride & Prejudice again. Sense & Sensibilty, great! But so is Emma & Persuasion!
I love the period and the lace! The magazine is beautiful. So much to knit.
I'll have to quit my job to do it all. All my daughters are hooked too.

Heheh...I had gone looking for a good hexagon pattern to make a sock yarn afghan out of, and wound up just cobbling a hexagon out of a granny square book. I like this idea much better, and the hexagons are closer to what I was looking for! Thank goodness I didn't get very far on my original idea, otherwise the bitterness from doing all that ripping back would be a little much ;)

Working on Dahlia and think it is beautiful, but wish you would have included instructions and additional yarn requirements to customize it.
